ID Target uploads allow you to upload lists of activists using their unique ID instead of email address or mobile number. This allows you to perform matching with other systems without having to pass around sensitive personal information like email or mobile number. The activists you upload will be able to be targeted for emails, mobile messages, and reports. You can find the unique ID for your activists by pulling a report in Action Network and including the unique ID column.
Note: ID Targets should be used to very quickly upload an audience of activists that should be included in targeting for an email, mobile message or report. They cannot be used to update data in Action Network. To update data, use a regular email/mobile number or unique ID upload.
To upload ID Targets, click the Details menu and select ID Targets. Click the blue + Add ID Targets button to add your CSV file containing the unique IDs of activists you want to reach out to. If you use this upload type, activists will be matched on unique ID. If the unique ID in your spreadsheet matches an activist on your list, they will be included when targeting this list. However, if the ID you upload in the CSV is not found on your list already, the row will be skipped. Therefore, unique ID uploads cannot be used to add new activists to your list who aren't there currently (either subscribed, unsubscribed, bouncing, or spam complaint), unlike the upload by email type, which will add new email addresses to your list if no match is found.
After you upload your ID Target file, you'll be able to reach out to the activists in the upload via email or mobile message, or run a report on them.
You can also automate the process of uploading and editing ID targets by adding them through the API. Click here to learn more.
