BriteVerify is a service provided by Validity which allows you to validate the email addresses you have on your list.
Before you set this up, you'll need to have a BriteVerify account. You can sign up for that here: https://app.briteverify.com/users/sign_up
After you've set that up with BriteVerifty, go to the Details menu and select API and Sync in Action Network. Enter your BriteVerify API key and enable the sync. You can learn how to get your BriteVerify API key here.
You have the option to backfill data to validate addresses for people who are already on your list. This comes with an additional cost. If you want to enable backfill, click Ok in the pop up. If you only want to validate new email addresses you receive moving forward, click Cancel.
Once it’s turned on, anytime anyone subscribes to a list (via uploads, taking action etc) we will validate that their email is real via BriteVerify. We will automatically unsubscribe people who have the following statuses in BriteVerify:
- status: invalid
- secondary: email_address_invalid
- secondary: email_domain_invalid
- secondary: email_account_invalid
- secondary: mailbox_full
- secondary: disposable
- secondary: role_address
The sync will run about every 30 minutes, so it won't capture invalid emails immediately. This means they may automatically get triggered into ladders before being unsubscribed for being invalid. To avoid this, be sure to delay the first message of the ladder by a day so the verification can run first.
The sync will create two new custom fields: briteverify_status and briteverify_secondary_status. Briteverify_status tracks whether an email is valid or invalid, and briteverify_secondary_status tracks the invalid reason passed on from Briteverify.
Click here to learn more about what these statuses actually mean.
Once the sync is running, you will receive an email every time a batch of emails from our system have been verified. You'll receive this at your BriteVerify account email. This can happen as often as every 30 minutes. This can't be turned off, so we'd recommend signing up to BriteVerify using an email address where you're ok with receiving a high volumes of notifications, or set up filtering in your regular inbox. You'll still want to keep an eye on these emails for billing notices, reports, etc.
