So you decided to upgrade your partnership to include a SQL mirror — fantastic! The SQL mirror will give you access to your data in a more complete way. Here's what you need to know to get started.
How do I get my credentials?
Once you make your payment via Chargebee and provide us with your group link, give us a week or so to get the mirror set up. We'll share a google doc with you that includes your credentials. Note that we will only share the doc with the admin that requested the mirror once, when it is set up. If you need to share the credentials with other people on your team, you can do that on the google doc.
WE ARE UNABLE TO SHARE THE GOOGLE DOC AGAIN FOR ANY REASON. IF YOU DO NOT SHARE WITH COLLEAGUES YOU CAN BE PERMANENTLY LOCKED OUT OF YOUR MIRROR.
The first thing you should do is share access to the credentials in the Google Doc with trusted colleagues, to avoid permanent lockout. Be sure to share with others before you leave your current position and in similar situations. Action Network is permanently unable to recover access, under any circumstance.
How do I set up the mirror?
After you have your credentials, you can access the Redshift database via a tool like TablePlus. Enter your credentials, and you'll be all set.
What if the mirror can't connect?
Your credentials might have a typo or your IP address isn't allowed. Double check the google doc with your info, and email support@actionnetwork.org if you need more IPs allowed.
What language are queries in?
Postgres! If you have questions about writing queries, check out the Redshift documentation for an overview of what's possible. Also a big fan of Google and Stack Overflow!
Where do I go if I have questions?
First check out our SQL mirror documentation, and if you still have questions you can email support@actionnetwork.org and our team will be happy to help.
Can I see some sample queries?
Yes! Check them out here.
