If you've signed up for the Mobile Messaging add on, Action Network needs some information from you to apply for the toll free number. This information is submitted to Twilio and mobile carriers, who will process the application. Action Network does not share any of this information with any other third party.
Before signing up for Mobile Messaging, make sure your organization has been organized into a legal entity with an EIN (or CCN in Canada). You will also need a website for your organization and a publicly available privacy policy posted on that site. We cannot submit applications without this. Click here if you need a template for a privacy policy that is compliant with Twilio and carrier requirements. Note that Action Network cannot provide guidance on how to write a compliant privacy policy.
Action Network will need the following information to submit your application:
- A link to your privacy policy that has been published on your website (not Google Drive, Dropbox, etc). If you don't have a privacy policy, you can find tips to write one here.
- One example of a sample message content that you would send out to your list, including opt out instructions (on Action Network, people can text Stop or Unsubscribe to opt-out)
- Legal business name as registered with the EIN (e.g. Action Squared instead of Action Network)
- Legal business address as registered with the EIN
- EIN Tax ID as it appears in the EIN listing
- First and Last Name of Authorized Representative of your organization (must be reachable by email and phone)
- Email address of Authorized Representative
- Business Title of Authorized Representative
- Phone number of Authorized Representative
If you'd like to add a second Authorized Representative, send us the information for points 6-9 for this person as well.
After we receive this information, we will submit your application for review by Twilio and mobile carriers. This usually takes about a week, but can take up to 6 weeks in rare cases. If your application is rejected, Action Network will work with Twilio to resolve the issue. In some instances, we may need to reach out to you for additional information, context, or for changes to be made to the privacy policy.
After your number is approved, we will reach out to you one last time to confirm your number is ready to use.
