On the Email Manage page, you can view overall email stats, change scheduling, view test results, and more.
Below the subject line for an email, you'll see the option to Edit Tags for this email. On this page, tags don't do anything but categorize your email. You can view the tags on this Manage page or in your Group Manage page. You can also create a tag when adding tags in this way using the Add New Tag button.
Click the Duplicate button to make a copy of the email, including content and targeting. Click the Duplicate With Exclude button to duplicate the email, exclude the first email from the duplicate, and remove the random limit (useful when doing email testing.) We'll add 'copy of' to the beginning of the administrative title.
If the email hasn't been sent, you can refresh targeting as well by clicking the Refresh Targeting button and generate a new count.
If you need to reschedule your email, you can do this by clicking the Reschedule button in the upper right. You'll be able to reschedule the email on the next page.
You can also stop emails mid-send from this page or view what time the email finished sending in the top right.
You can also add this email to an Email Campaign. You can select an existing Email Campaign or create a new one. An email can be part of multiple campaigns. More on email campaigns here. You can also see if your email is part of an email campaign, and access the campaign at the hyperlink.
You can also create a ladder where receiving this email is the trigger. Ladders are not retroactive, so make sure you publish the ladder before sending the email. By default, people will be triggered into the ladder by receiving this email. You can customize the ladder from there. If you've already created a ladder that is triggered by this email, you can click View Ladder to see that ladder. The ladder will also be available in your list of ladders.
In the Statistics tab, you'll be able to see stats on how your email performed. This will include key metrics for Opens, Clicks, and Action Rates. You'll also see important info on Unsubscribes, including bounces and spam complaints.
You have the option to view First Hour Statistics as well. First hour email stats are a useful indicator of success of the email – especially donation amount. If the amount raised is high after 1 hour that’s a good indication that the audience could be expanded.
On the right side of the page you have the option to filter stats by email provider. This is particularly useful in seeing how your emails perform across email providers like Google, Yahoo, etc. You can use these stats to see if your email check our Deliverability Guide for more on how to interpret these numbers.
Note: After November 22nd, 2023 Action Network makes a distinction between Verified and Unverified Opens. Verified openers are activists whose emails we can be reasonably sure are being opened by a person, not a machine. Unverified openers are activists where we can't know if machine or human opened the email, likely due to MPP being enabled. Unverified does not mean a person didn't open the email, it just means we cannot know for certain. Click here to read more about what MPP is and how opens are tracked. For emails sent before this date, you'll see total opens and unverified opens (instead of machine opens). For emails sent after this date, you will see stats for verified and unverified opens. It can take several weeks of activists interacting with your emails for us to sort them into verified or unverified openers.
If you did any A/B testing, you'll see a Test Results tab. Here you'll be able to see the result of each test and individual stats for how each email test performed. You can choose a winner by clicking Duplicate to make a copy of the email test, including content and targeting. Click the Duplicate With Exclude button to duplicate the email, exclude the first email from the duplicate, and remove the random limit.
In the Clicks tab, you'll be able to see every link included in your email. The unique number tells you how many individuals clicked on that link. The raw number tells you how many times a link was clicked overall.
The View Email tab gives you a look at what the email looks like before it goes out, or lets you look over what was already sent. You can send yourself a test from here as well.
In the Targets tab, you'll be able to view the targeting parameters that have been set. If you used a query to target this email, you'll be able to view the parameters set for that query and have the option to be taken to the edit page for that query to make any changes.
Finally, the Next Steps tab has tips from Action Network on what to do after an email has been sent.
