Test Personas are special activist records used to help test Liquid clips in emails and mobile messages. You can send tests to yourself but use a persona's data or preview as a persona by choosing it from a dropdown. Personas are accessible by any group administrator, regardless of other permissions.This feature is only available for partners with Boost. Click here to learn more about this.
Test Personas are created from existing Activists on your list. A good Test Persona comes from an activist who has data in custom fields/tags you are using for clips/conditional formatting in your emails. You should create multiple personas from multiple activists to test an email under different conditions. For example, you can test persona's of donors, people with certain tags, people who live in a specific area, etc. Your personas should help you test your clips much easier.
To create a new Test Persona, go to the People menu and select Activists. Next, search for an activist you think would be a good person to test emails with. You can create one from scratch by clicking the New Activist button in the upper right. After you've selected your Activist, click View Record. In the Activist Record, click Edit Activist in the sidebar. On the following page, tick off the Save as Test Persona checkbox. You'll be able to add a Persona Admin Title so this is easily searchable. Click Save Activist to save the Persona.
You can view a list of all the Test Personas that have been created for your group by going to the People menu and selecting Activists. On this Activists page, under the dropdown menu to select a list to search, you’ll see a “View all personas” option.
Selecting this option will display a list of all the test personas that have been created in your group. You can also open the activist records of those test personas directly from this list.
To use a Test Persona, you can go to the Save & Send Test section of an Edit Email or Edit Mobile Message page. Click Send as Another Activist or Test Persona. You'll be able to send as if you were another activist, or as a Test Persona. After selecting to send as a Test Persona, you'll be able to select a persona to test with. You can view the profile of the persona by clicking the eye icon. You can create a new persona from scratch by clicking the + button. Save your selected persona and click Save & Send Test. You will receive a test email to your inbox as if you were the persona. You can also use personas in ladder emails.
