The QA Checklist is a best practice for email programs that you can now implement directly into your email process on Action Network to maintain consistent content and deliverability standards. When on, all emails will have a checklist to complete before sending, and you will be able to see which emails have completed QA in the emails tab. You can add, edit, remove, and reorder checklist items as needed.

Setting up your QA Checklist
To turn on QA Checklist, go to the Settings tab in the Group Manage page and click Email Settings. Scroll to the bottom and check the box to enable QA Checklist for Emails. Checking the box will make other options available.
Check the box next to “Make QA Mandatory” to require all tasks be completed or ignored before emails can be sent. Leaving it unchecked will make the QA list optional.
Items on the checklist can be reorganized as headings and tasks. Click the six dot icon next the checklist item to drag and drop the list into your preferred order. Checklists can have a maximum of 50 items combined between headings and tasks.
Below the QA Checklist, add email addresses that should be notified whenever a QA is requested or saved. If you want to notify multiple people, use comma separated emails. A Mass Email's creator will also always be notified when a checklist is saved.
Click Save Changes once you are satisfied with your checklist.
Tasks to consider including in the QA Checklist:
Email Address
- Is this email coming from the appropriate organizational email address?
- Does the reply-to address go to a monitored inbox?
Email Body
- Are all personalization clips rendering correctly?
- Is the email signed by the email sender?
- Have all facts, statistics, and personal stories been verified for accuracy?
- Does the email contain a clear call to action?
Links
- Do buttons link to the correct landing page?
- Do all links point to the correct page?
- Do all links open in a new tab?
Targeting
- Is the correct targeting set up on the email?
- Is the number of people targeted in the email a number you expected?
- Is the email geographically specific, if so does the targeting reflect that?
Testing
- Have you sent yourself a test of the email?
- Does the email look good on mobile?
- Does the email look good on the desktop?

Using the QA Checklist
The QA Checklist you created can be viewed on the Preview & Send step of the email process. When your email is done and you are reviewing it before sending, click Review QA Checklist to go through all the items on the checklist. The QA Checklist will appear on the right side of the email preview. As you check off items from the checklist, the progress bar of completed tasks will update at the top. You can click Ignore for any checklist items that do not apply to the email. Once you have gone through the checklist, click Save QA Checklist. Saving will send an email to the creator of the email letting them know that someone has reviewed and saved the QA Checklist.
Click Request QA to ask for review of an email. Anyone who's listed in the Email Settings in the QA Notifications field will automatically receive a notification. You can also request QA from another teammate by entering their email address in the available field. Click Add message to reviewer to add a note that will be included in the request for review. (ex: "Please double check spelling of names on the photo caption")
From there you can proceed to send the email. If you try to send the email when the QA Checklist was not completed, a pop up will appear letting you know. If the Make QA Mandatory setting is checked, you will not be able to send the message. If it's unchecked, you'll receive a pop up warning but will still be able to send the message without a complete QA checklist.
Any emails that have gone through the QA Checklist will have a green QA’d label next to the Email in the Emails tab. By clicking QA’d & Unsent at the top of the email list you can filter the view to only display any emails that have completed the QA Checklist and are ready to send.
