It's a best practice to welcome new activists to your mobile list upon joining (and in some cases, may be legally required). You can easily do this using our Ladders tool.
1. Go to the People tab in the Start Organizing menu and select Ladders. Create a new Ladder and give it a name, something like 'Mobile Welcome Series'.
2. Create the trigger for your ladder, which should be Subscribed to Mobile List. This will trigger anyone into the ladder who newly subscribes to your mobile list.
We recommend adding a wait step towards the beginning of your ladder in case you ever need to pause your ladder. For example, if there were a natural disaster, you could pause the ladder and no one would proceed to the next step to receive the welcome message until your ladder was unpaused.
3. Click the plus button to create an action. In this case we want to Send a Mobile Message. Give your Mobile Message an administrative title and content, something like 'Welcome to our list! Msg&data rates may apply. Reply HELP for help, STOP to stop.'
As a reminder, HELP and STOP replies are handled automatically by Action Network. You can customize that text on the Settings tab of your group manage page.
4. That's it! Make sure to test your ladder and save.
